That funny looking gizmo on the end of the Deluxe Rock Heater cord is called a Rheostat It allows you the ability to adjust the surface temperature of your rock heater... just the way your reptiles like it!

A rock heater has two basic functions: to facilitate digestion and to provide safety or additional heat when temperatures are unusually low. A rock heater should never be the sole source of heat unless the ambient air temperatures in your cage are sufficient for your type of reptile. Placing a rock heater directly under or over another heating source is not a good idea! This can cause rock surface temperatures to escalate! Always use a Rock Heater in wire type enclosures. (You know, like our IguanArium, hint, hint! ) Socks and nylons belong on your feet, not on your rock heater! Using these or similar items over your rock heater will encapsulate heat and can be a fire hazard! Ball Python warning: Practice extreme care when using a rock heater with ball pythons! Be sure to provide several hide boxes and check ambient temperatures.
